What's a slug?

Slugifying is a common practice to get a short, unique, web friendly word from a phrase or name. Think of a slug as a simple collection of words or a scentence which you would like to convert to a lowercase text string without spaces and special characters. Slugs are good for website addresses and filenames.

becomes
this-is-a-filename-with-125-ki-oops
